Ship's Log:

Captain's Entry - May 2007

"Itineraries for "Add to Life" are always customized for our guests. We're familiar with all the best locations and when to visit them. The length of your stay is also up to you, but I recommend a 7 to 10 day sail for the most relaxing, soul nourishing vacation.

British Virgin Islands

7-Day Sample Itinerary

Norman's Island
Day 1

Arrive onboard, settle in and enjoy “Welcome Aboard” refreshments. Set sail for Norman Island , the setting for Robert Louis Stevenson’s Treasure Island. Explore the caves for missing pirate plunder, then snorkel through the beautiful aquatic world at the caves – the real treasure! Enjoy cocktails and hors d’oeuvres, followed by a fabulous dinner onboard. Slip over to the famous Willy T’s floating bar for some after dinner fun.

The Last Resort
Day 2

Sail to Peter Island - rated one of the top 20 islands in the world! After breakfast, swim at a sugar-sand beach, explore some of the 20 secluded coves, or enjoy great snorkeling. For those who dive, the wreck of the RMS Rhone is considered one of the top dive sites in the BVI. The 310-foot Rhone sank during a hurricane in 1867. It is perfectly preserved, right down to its crow’s nest, cannon and bowsprit! (Advance notice needed to organize a dive.) Relax during an afternoon trip to Trellis Bay. Visit the Last Resort or Marina Cay, which is just a 5 minute hop by dingy and is home to the famous Pusser’s Rum store.

Virgin Gorda Baths
Day 3

Sail to Virgin Gorda’s famous "Baths." These exotic pools, grottos and swim-through caves were formed by a collection of granite rocks strewn across the white beaches. Snorkel and explore these sea-carved caves before lunch or rock-climb on shore for some stunning views. Virgin Gorda is the home to another of BVI’s top dive sites – "The Chimney." “The Chimney” is actually a tunnel lined with living sponges and rainbow coral. The tunnel spills into a sunny chamber which is home to the spotted drum fish and friendly nurse sharks.

Anegada
Day 4

Those interested in a full day’s sail can enjoy an exciting sail to Anegada and back. This white coral island is a rare treat among the hilly Virgins, and is surrounded by one of the world’s largest reefs, sinking scores of ships in years past. Meanwhile, those looking for relaxation can enjoy the luxury offered at the Bitter End Yacht Club Resort. Anyone looking for an exciting ride around the North Sound can do it on our exclusive Hobie Cat 18'. At sunset, reunite with your group and enjoy a Caribbean meal at one of the island’s top-rated restaurants.

Sail to Jost Van Dyke
Day 5

Diamond Cay is located on Jost Van Dyke island. It boasts a small seaside restaurant and a trail to what is known as the "bubbly pools", a natural breakwater from the sea that comes alive when waves pour into a pool-like formation stirring up the waters. Spend the afternoon on White Bay Beach, just up the coast on Jost Van Dyke island. This beach is a long stretch of pure white sand with a palm-lined beach, protected by a great snorkeling reef. We anchor close to shore so our guests can swim to the beach and visit the award-winning Soggy Dollar beach bar.

White Bay
Day 6

After breakfast, sail over to Sandy Spit Beach, adjacent to Jost Van Dyke. This miniture island is totally remote but within reach by boat. It has a spectacular little beach that is definitely worth a sail-by, if not a visit! Make a quick hop across to enjoy the colorful splendor of Cane Garden Bay. Snorkel, swim and sun the day away. There are several lively night spots for those interested in Caribbean night life.

One last sail
Day 7

Smuggler's Cove at Tortola’s West End, known as Soper's Hole is secluded, sheltered, and serene. The water is exceptionally warm, clear, and calm, perfect for a morning snorkel. Frequently sea turtles can be found swimming in these waters. Enjoy a last sail back to civilization before your trip home.
